Tejas Light Combat aircraft
Tejas is single-engine, fourth-generation, multi role light fighter designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in collaboration with Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and in this article we are seeing how important is Tejas Light Combat aircraft is Supersonic Fighter for Indian air force.
Tejas is the second supersonic fighter developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) after the HAL HF-24 Marut.Name came from the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, which began in the 1980s to replace India’s ageing MiG-21 fighters. In 2003, the LCA was officially named “Tejas”

Best Aircraft in Light weight Category : Tejas Light Combat aircraft
The smallest, lightweight, multi role, single-engine tactical fighter aircraft in the world, Tejas aircraft is developed as a single-seat fighter aircraft for the IAF, and a two-seat training aircraft. In November 2008, the IAF confirmed a requirement for 140 Tejas aircraft for seven squadrons.
The design of a carrier-borne Tejas in single-seat and two-seat versions, including a modified nose, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook, was granted approval in 1999. This has retractable canards and adjustable vortex control.
The LCA Tejas is fitted with a night vision compatible glass cockpit with Martin Baker (UK) zero-zero ejection seats and the cockpit has two 76mm × 76mm colour liquid crystal multi function displays developed by Bharat Electronics, a head-up display developed by the government-owned Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) in Chandigarh, and a liquid crystal return-to-home-base panel and keyboard and helmet-mounted display and sight (HMDS) is also included, while the hands-on throttle and stick control system minimizes pilot workload and maximize situational awareness.
A 23mm twin-barrelled GSh-23 gun with a burst firing rate of 50 rounds a second and muzzle velocity of 715m a second is installed in a blister fairing under the starboard air intake and R-73 air-to-air missile.
Tejas Light Combat aircraft is it good ?
Yes and in near future Tejas is going to be main front line fighter aircraft. Let me clear this point Tejas is not going to be Single engine aircraft and the limited abilities like Currently Tejas has. In Future we are going to two variantof Tejas like Tejas MK1 and Tejas MK2 (MWF) medium wight fighter. And keeping the base and information of Tejas Indian govt approved the twin Engine deck base fighter (TEDBF).
Tejas MK1 :- FOC standard
Tejas MK1 is same structure and air frame with some modern changes and this MK1 is consider as FOC standard aircraft with air refuelling capacity. The Mark 1A will also be able to carry and use variety of Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles and close combat air-to-air missiles and Sources also said the jets will be equipped with Vympel R-73 CCMs and a Derby BVR missile. LCA Tejas Mark 1A will be equipped with the AESA Radar and Self-Protection Jammer (SPJ) in it.
Medium weight fighter (MWF) : Tejas MK2:-
Tejas Mk2 is similar as MK1 version the main differences is like length of Tejas Mk2 is 14.7 meter increased from 13.2 meter in Tejas Mk1. This Medium Weight Fighter (MWF) is designed as a replacement for the Mirage 2000 in near future with a view to surpassing its capabilities in almost every respect Tejas Mk2. second most the differences are prolonged fuselage and canards for the better control and maneuverability. TejasMK2 can carry same weapons as MK1 but in bit more number as compare to MK1, since it has 12 hard
TEDBF :- Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter
The main purpose of Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) is to provide twin engine multi role fighter aircarft for the NAVY. This project is approved in year 2020 and it is in design phase now. TEDBF will replace the MIG 29 which is aircraft carrier base fighter.
In Future All Tejas variant will use New BrahMos-NG (1.5 ton) which is a lighter version of the BrahMos supersonic missile. This is currently under development
